Thriving relationships aren’t about never…
making mistakes
having moments when you aren’t being your best self
or having any conflict.
Instead, they are about knowing how to quickly, easily, and effectively repair.
>> Because what we don’t repair, we REPEAT.

Unfortunately, in the moments that could be healing, many partners end up getting defensive and further invalidating and dismissing each other (i.e. what not to do).
We realize life may bring a variety of stressors to your relationship and, as a result, you may not always be your best selves to each other.
We hope these tips below help you repair more quickly and reach each other’s hearts a little more easily so you can come back into loving connection.
What NOT to Say
- I’m sorry you feel that way.
- I’m sorry I… but you…
- You are overreacting.
- This is just who I am. Love me as I am or leave.
What to Say Instead
- I can see how you would feel that way. (empathy)
- I’m sorry I…
but you…(take responsibility) - I can tell this is really important to you. Tell me more. (curiosity)
- I want to learn and grow from this. (openness to feedback)
